In this traditional Presbyterian hymn, men individually and unitedly pledge to "Rise up!", to put away the things of youth, to tread the path that their Lord has tread before, and to "Give heart and soul and mind and strength To serve the King of Kings." By so doing they reign-in "the day of brotherhood," and end "the night of wrong." In such a time when fatherless families abound, this text (written in 1911) is no less striking. This stirring four-part men's arrangement inspires both men's choir and congregation together to "Rise up!" to meet this worthy challenge. (Catalogue: PM1005) |
